People Love Kempton of Rock Hill
I’m typing this while my mother in law is in the hospital recovering from a medical event. After a serious fall several years ago, we started looking at Assisted Living facilities for my MIL in the Charlotte area. A former employee suggested we look at Kempton (Formerly Harbor Chase). It was the first place we looked at and our initial reports were favorable— low employee turnover, staff who seemed to enjoy working there, residents who genuinely seemed to care about each other and of course a nice facility and strong management. We were able to keep my MIL at her home with with a private caregiver for a couple of years until her needs became too great. We looked at every reputable facility in the Charlotte area. Many were more showy and had fancier brochures/facilites but none gave us the sense of comfort that Kempton did. At Kempton, we have found caring, accessible and responsive staff from the receptionist to the director. They held our hands as we brought her reluctantly to the facility. Staff gave us progress updates and coached us how to support her through the transition. Just today (on a Sunday when I believe he is “off”) Nick took our call on his cell to hear how she was doing and discuss next steps. The sweetest part is that my MIL kept asking today when she could go back to Kempton (not to her home where she lived for years). She wanted her table buddies to know she was okay and missed the staff. It was an affirmation that we had made the right choice.
